World Blood Donor Day 2024, East Hills Church of Christ hosts blood drive in honor of Laura Morris | Top Stories [Video]

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The American Red Cross celebrates World Blood Donor Day on Friday, June 14, 2024, and folks across the country are recognizing what it means to make a life saving contribution. 

For individuals like Laura Morris, a St. Joseph woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer and passed away three years ago, blood donations were a vital aspect in her cancer treatments. 

East Hills Church of Christ held a blood donation event on Thursday, June 13, 2024, and while the event was not necessarily in honor of Laura’s memory, they do partner with the local St. Joseph chapter of the American Red Cross each December to host a blood drive. 

Pastor Keith Purcell said that they only had eleven donors on Thursday around 11:30 a.m., however, even one blood contribution could save someone’s life.
