Weather warms up as summer rolls on [Video]

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Isolated thunderstorms are a possibility in Interior Alaska on Thursday and Friday as a thermal trough helps percolate the atmosphere.

Moving to the Gulf of Alaska, there is another low circulating which will bring additional rounds of wet weather to Southeast Alaska, the north gulf coast, and eventually parts of the Copper River Basin.

Southcentral Alaska got a large helping of vitamin D with the sunshine that warmed up the region, sending temperatures to 62 degrees in Palmer and 60 in Soldotna. Clouds roll in this evening, but clear enough to get the sunshine in again on Friday.

It may be late May, but temperatures will be below freezing over the northern coasts day and night. A high of 30 degrees is forecast for Friday in Utqiagvik.
