Children’s Wisconsin is on the frontlines of gun violence in the Milwaukee area. Doctors there tell WISN 12 News June has been the worst month this year. They’ve treated 43 shot kids this year.In the emergency department, Dr. Mike Levas, professor of pediatric emergency medicine, sees Milwaukee at its worst. “What’s your message to the public? Why are you talking with us today?” WISN 12 News reporter Kendall Keys asked Levas.”Because we need help,” Levas said. They’ve treated 13 kids with gunshot wounds in June alone.”That’s almost one every other day. I have colleagues that are just tired and frustrated because that’s not what we signed up for.
