Wax Owls wax poetic on Freckle Beats Per Minute [Video]

Want to hear a fabulous folk-tinged song performed by some ex-lawyers? If not, objection overruled. The LA band Wax Owls just released “Freckle” – a song that features soaring chorus harmonies and will remind you of Bon Iver and Elliot Smith.

These refugees from the legal profession have already played big festivals like Bonnaroo and have landed a coveted sync cut on TV’s Grey’s Anatomy. “Freckle” is the first taste of the band’s EP arriving later this summer.

Lead singer Gerry Hirschfeld notes: “‘Freckle’ ultimately becomes a meditation reflecting on our past decisions, intimacy, and the tension between pursuing passion and embracing practicality. Throughout the song, there’s a sense of introspection and a willingness to confront truths, even when they’re uncomfortable. Musically, this song has been through many incarnations before we settled on this version. I was heavily inspired by Elliot Smith in how I wanted to treat the vocal production.”
