Walgreens Pharmacists Can Answer all Your Qs on Breast Cancer Drugs

https://learnlooklocate.com/walgreens 🔵 I always think back to our first conversation when we talked about Tamoxifen and how scary it was for you and that you didn’t even want to take it and you ended up not taking it, right? So in pharmacy school, they teach you this analogy of like there’s a huge bucket holding water and you know, if there’s 100 drops of water in this bucket and those are all for maybe 50 of those prescriptions make it to the pharmacy. 25 of those prescriptions get picked up by the patient and only 10 of those actually ever get used.

So we want, what I would like people to know is that, you know, I understand that this is very scary. I understand that when you leave that doctor’s office, there’s probably 100 questions that popped into your mind that you’re, why didn’t I think of this when I was still in there? And let us step into that role for you. Let us be that companion that you lean on to answer those questions to help you find guidance for the things that aren’t medication related that you might have questions about.

Alex Cosimano, PharmD, CSP, is a board-certified specialty pharmacist and community-based specialty pharmacy manager with over 10 years of experience. Alex has a wealth of experience in community and specialty pharmacy, oncology infusion and research, and has assisted in the development and execution of team member training for the Walgreens Feel More Like You® (FMLY) service. This service is designed for cancer patients, customers, and caregivers at no cost, to help manage the side effects of cancer by offering solutions to manage changes to skin, nails, and hair. While adapting to the challenges of the past pandemic and the barriers faced with the in-person service, Alex helped to launch the Walgreens FMLY virtual support group, where he also served as the pharmacist for the first bilingual virtual support group.

Walgreens specialty pharmacy is honored to be a collaborator with Learn Look Locate. Specialty pharmacies can be an amazing resource for patients. Aside from providing medication, Walgreens helps connect patients to innumerable resources including education, screening, fertility preservation, financial assistance, and community support. Walgreens is looking forward to extending these resources to the Learn Look Locate community. Their goal is to help patients fit their medication regimen into their lives rather than building their lives around their medication. This includes working to mitigate side effects and educating on how to get the best results from their medication.

Cynthia Jordan, Founder of Learn Look Locate LLC in 2018 has generated a global movement to provide critical education for the early detection of breast cancer. It is estimated that one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. While most of these cases are diagnosed in women over the age of 50, the disease can affect women of any age. Early detection is critical to survival, yet many women are not familiar with the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.

We advocate the importance of self-breast exams, what to look for when performing a self-exam, and when to see a doctor. We provide resources for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as for their families and friends.

The five-year survival rate for women who catch their cancer early is nearly 100%. Here’s an important statistic. Many women do not perform self-breast exams or see a doctor for regular screenings. Learn Look Locate LLC wants to highlight the work of organizations around the world that are working to promote early detection of breast cancer. We will feature stories of women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and share their journeys.

There are several ways to diagnose breast cancer, including mammograms, biopsies, and ultrasounds. Once breast cancer is diagnosed, there are a few treatment options available, including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. The best way to treat breast cancer is to catch it early and to get the best treatment possible.

There is a strong community of women who have been affected by breast cancer. In addition, there are a number of organizations and resources available to help women find the support they need.

Learn Look Locate LLC provides resources for women who want to get involved in the fight against breast cancer.
