KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – After giving birth women can face an uphill battle with their mental health, be it depression, bipolar disorder, or a whole host of other issues, and that battle can vary between six weeks to one year – based on the individual. This, according to Nurture KC, who wants to connect Kansas City mothers with their community health workers experiencing those symptoms. At the same time, they want to affect policy and advocate for the workforce to become accepting of mothers.

Erica Bailey, an advocate for Nurture KC, lost her son. He was stillborn, a few days before his due date, and she wasn’t sure what to do with the grief she experienced with her husband.
