ABOUT MADELEINE CRAWFORD
Madeleine Crawford is a third-year medical student at Dalhousie Medical School, originally from Prince Edward Island. Madeleine is interested in medical research and dermatology and uses her passion to improve access for patients to have lesions of concern examined for skin cancer. Madeleine was the lead author on a project that implemented a melanoma screening program through a form of artificial intelligence in which they detected 11 melanomas in two months. Madeleine has also contributed to medical education through ongoing dermatology research. She has published articles geared towards assisting general practitioners recognize common skin conditions in their practice, particularly in skin of colour. She has also had research posters featured at the Annual Canadian Dermatology Association Conference to highlight rare pediatric skin conditions for other dermatologists, as well as assisted in the creation of dermatology study resources for third-year medical students. Finally, she recently acted as the delegate director for the 2024 Conference of Atlantic Medical Students.
