United Regional and WFPD hold Drug Take Back event [Video]

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – When your medicine cabinet gets full or drugs expire, the safest option is only a car ride away.

United Regional and the Wichita Falls Police Department hold Drug Take Back events twice a year, and today was their most recent one. Staff with United Regional said drugs and sharp objects in the wrong hands are a public health issue. Events like these help prevent drug misuse and abuse.

“Some medications people tend to hold onto that they might think that would be beneficial but isn’t would be antibiotics and any heart medication like nitroglycerin or something like that,” Doan Noe, UR clinical pharmacist said. “What happens with those is that they can lose their potency and not be effective when they need them and actually can cause more illness.”
