SYLVANIA, Ohio (WTVG) – Cancer of any kind brings all sorts of challenges, but imagine being diagnosed with not one, but two forms of cancer.
“64 years, my whole life changed.” said Mike Giergielewicz, who was diagnosed with cancer.
Giergielewicz’s new form of communication is through a voice prosthesis, all of which stemmed from what he though were sinus issues.
“For several months, I felt like my sinuses were giving me trouble. I was trying everything, sinus medication, over-the-counter stuff, and it wasn’t getting any better,” said Giergielewicz. “Then my wife decided to get me to see the doctor and that’s when I came to see him and he didn’t like what he saw. So that’s when he did a biopsy and found out that I had cancer.”
