Tight end depth takes a hit after foot injury to Juwan Johnson [Video]

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – There’s a youth movement taking over the Saints tight end room.

Entering Saints minicamp, they did have veterans Juwan Johnson and Foster Moreau on the roster. They also possessed undrafted rookie free agent Dallin Holker, second-year player Michael Jacobson, and lightly-used Tommy Hudson (three receptions in 2021).

Johnson was absent from mandatory minicamp all week, and we found out on Thursday he’ll undergo foot surgery next week.

There’s no timetable on his return to the Saints. There’s a possibility for the recovery to linger into training camp.

Tommy Hudson also missed the entire Saints minicamp.

That opened the door for rookie Dallin Holker to shine. The Colorado State product got work with the 1′s during minicamp.
