NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Almost ten years after an alleged lack of treatment from doctors at the Medical University of South Carolina left a then-17-year-old boy in a vegetative state, his family is sharing their story and hardships.

Raishaun Fyall was 17 years old when he visited the MUSC Emergency Room on Jan. 3, 2015, for an evaluation of abdominal pain.

The lawsuit filed by his family states an ultrasound was performed with the results stating “r/o appendicitis,” which revealed free fluid and did not visualize the appendix. The medical term “r/o” means “rule out.”

Despite the ultrasound results and symptoms, Raishaun was discharged home with a diagnosis of constipation and provided Mirilax.

“You have a 17-year-old complaining about stomachache and he can’t even sit or lay down, and all you did was an ultrasound. You didn’t do a CT scan, an MRI, anything,” Raishaun’s mother, Sabrina Green, said. …
