Therapy dog Izzo was USA Swimming’s furriest teammate [Video]

Izzo, who worked as a therapy dog for eight years, was diagnosed with cancer just before this year’s U.S. Olympic Swim Trials in Indianapolis.

INDIANAPOLIS — Now that the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials in Indianapolis are over, Team USA is preparing to head to Paris.

But you might not know about one of their furriest teammates.

His name is Izzo, and USA Swimming named him an honorary member.

Izzo was a therapy dog with an organization called Paws and Think. The organization was invited to be a part of the athletes’ lounge at Lucas Oil Stadium, assigned to help make the athletes feel comfortable.

Izzo was diagnosed with bone cancer a month before the trials, which was his last event.

Izzo passed away on Tuesday, June 25, but his handler said his spirit isn’t going anywhere.

Everyone, meet Izzo.
