The USPSTF releases new recommendations for Breast Cancer Screening. It is now recommended to start at 40 and get it every other year. There are still problems with this recommendation.

1. 1/8 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. We need to start screening at the 40 and do it every single year.

2. We need a universal recommendation for breast ultrasound for those with dense breasts. Women should not be left to figure this out on their own. Insurance must cover it. USPSTF recommendations are a big deal, because many insurance companies follow their recommendations on what they will cover for patients. we need to do better when it comes to breast cancer screening. C’mon USPSTF!
