The Black Hills Defense and Industry Symposium to speak on quality of life in the area and more [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – The Black Hills Defense and Industry Symposium will bring leaders across the state to highlight the importance of stronger national defense and regional economic development. The public is invited to learn about doing business with the government, military, quality of life updates, critical minerals, and military construction.

The event, held at The Box in Box Elder runs throughout the week, with speeches from Senator Dusty Johnson and Nancy Balkus the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Environment, Safety, and Infrastructure, and more.

Day one will include a technical seminar and breakout discussions featuring panels of military and civilian experts. There will also be a War Game simulator for anyone in attendance, called The Perils of Theater Nuclear Escalation. The scenarios are based on a near-peer, nuclear-capable INDO-PACOM threat as the perils inherent in theater nuclear employment based on a real-world threat with realistic “Blue Team” inputs.
