Tensions rise at NDGOP convention following protest votes from delegates [Video]

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – The North Dakota Republican convention hit troubled waters this evening after sailing through their agenda all day.

Today was the second and final day of the NDGOP Convention. The convention saw endorsements for three top-of-the-ballot races. While the U.S. Senate and N.D. gubernatorial endorsements occurred without contention, that changed once it was time to endorse a candidate in the U.S. House race.

Both Public Service Commissioner Julie Fedorchak and lesser-known candidate Alex Balazs found themselves nominated. This triggered a ballot vote from the delegates in attendance.

But it wasn’t going to be that easy. A mass of delegates casted write-in votes supporting former state Rep. Rick Becker, who isn’t eligible for the endorsement after running for the U.S. Senate in 2022 as an Independent.

The first ballot tonight saw 382 of the over 1300 delegates vote “spoiled” in protest. That was enough to fail …
