Tension rising over proposed behavioral health hub in North County [Video]

VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Tension is brewing in the North County over a possible mental and addiction treatment site expanding in the Vista Community.

The land up for grabs is nestled in the hills of Vista known as “Green Oak Ranch.” It is a secluded yet serene space known for its summer camps, an RV Park and a quaint refuge for sober living. At the moment, nonprofit Solutions for Change, the city of Visa and the County of San Diego are all contenders to purchase a slice of the nearly 140-acre property.

Last month, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a proposal to explore purchasing some of the land for a new addiction treatment center in Vista to create a regional behavioral health campus.
