Supporting cancer survivors at Monument Health’s Strength and Courage event | News [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Monument Health Cancer Care Institute hosted its annual “Strength and Courage Take Flight” event yesterday, bringing together cancer survivors, their families and the community for a day of education and support.

Held on the morning of Saturday, June 1, the event focused on various aspects of cancer survivorship, including emotional wellness, fitness, and overall health.

Doris Cardwell, a volunteer co-chair for the event and a cancer survivor herself, emphasized the importance of support for those navigating the challenges of survivorship.

“Cancer survivorship is something that I’ve been really passionate about, and it is really encouraging to see that the CCI [Cancer Care Institute] here is putting so much effort into their survivorship program because it is for some people a little bit more challenging than others. But everyone needs support,” said Cardwell.
