SNAP and others offering support for those affected by storms [Video]

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – The storms over Memorial Day weekend have come and gone, and a majority of those with power outages earlier this week have their power back on. However, for some without power following the storms, necessities such as food were lost.

On Tuesday, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, issued some assistance for those who lost power and food. SNAP said residents in Kentucky who lost necessities such as food bought through SNAP due to power outages of over 4 hours have ten days to request replacement benefits.

SNAP was not the only one to assist in the past week following the storms. Churches all across the region, the American Red Cross, and others have lent a helping hand in these past several days. According to Kentucky Legal Aid’s Kristy Vick-Stratton, a Logan County group held an event to extend a helping hand.
