ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Rob and Nicki Gallier have been high school sweethearts for years.
They have been married since 1999.
But it was about a year ago when Rob Gallier’s kidneys started to fail.
“I weighed 270 pounds. I had almost 100 pounds of water weight on me. I couldn’t breathe,” Rob Gallier said.
The couple drove about three hours to Barnes Jewish Hospital to get him a kidney transplant.
“I just had a gut feeling at the time. I just didn’t even have a second thought. It’s ‘I want to be tested first,’” Nikki Gallier said.
And on March 14, she became a donor to the boy she met in high school.
The volleyball star has been falling for the football senior since their first date in October 1992.
Now with three kids — all athletes — they’re helping Rob Gallier on his road to recovery.
