Researchers seeking people impacted by Aliso Canyon gas leak [Video]

Nearly a decade after the Aliso Canyon gas leak, UCLA researchers are looking for specific volunteers to help them analyze the impact it had on their lives.

The Aliso Canyon Disaster Health Research Study analyzes both the short- and long-term effects of the disaster.

Dr. David Eisenman, a professor of medicine and public health at UCLA, told KNX News’ Pete Demetirou that researchers are looking to interview people between 18 and 34 years old who lived within five miles of the site.

“We’re particularly interested in how did it affect their mental health,” he said. “I mean, did they notice fear in their community? Did they notice fear in their family, creating lingering mental health effects in themselves or their family or people they know all those are things that were very interested in young adults.”
