Relay for Life returns to Kern County Fairgrounds May 4 & 5th [Video]

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Community members are welcomed to participate in the global effort to help end cancer.

“Relay for Life” is the world’s largest volunteer-based fundraising event and it’s less than a month away. The walk be returning to the Kern County Fairgrounds May 4 and 5. The event is a chance for the community to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost and fight back against every cancer.

Kathy Bess with Bakersfield’s “Relay For Life” joined 17 News at Noon to speak about how you can sign up for the the fundraising event.

While the event is held over two days, organizers work year-round raise funds for cancer survivors in Kern. So far $169,000 have been raised this year, according to Bess.

Around 88 teams have registered for the event. Teams will take turns walking …
