Prepayment begins for MCTS Bus Rapid Transit line [Video]

Beginning Monday, the Milwaukee County Transit System will require prepayment for the CONNECT 1 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). This change aims to quicken the boarding process for passengers. The CONNECT 1 launched on June 4 with free rides. MTCS had originally planned the installation of pre-boarding fare equipment last fall, but due to a supply chain delay, the installation was postponed until early 2024. There will be prepayment validators located at each of the CONNECT line’s 32 stations along the 9-mile route, allowing passengers to pay before boarding the bus. It runs between downtown Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Regional Medical Complex in Wauwatosa. Riders can scan their WisGo card, or Umo mobile app. Cash and credit card users must purchase tickets at the ticket vending machine at the station, then can scan the ticket before boarding the bus.
