PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Studies have shown that there is a growing concern about a forever chemical known as PFAS.

PFAS has made its way into some water supplies and ended up in humans and animals and can cause certain types of cancer, thyroid disease and ulcerative colitis.

The Portland Water Bureau monitors our drinking water supply from the Bull Run Reservoir and the Columbia South Shore Well Field and they report that the water is at low risk and PFAS haven’t been detected.

Legal expert Jarred D. Johnson, who is representing thousands of cancer victims who are suing PFAS manufacturers, joined AM Extra to talk more about the chemicals.
