Pend Oreille County Fire Battalion Chief dies after battle with cancer [Video]

SPOKANE, Wash. – Pend Oreille County Fire District 2 Battalion Chief Ron Cato died on May 30 after a battle with brain cancer.

According to the fire district, Cato’s decades of service included work for several fire agencies in Eastern Washington.

“Active for decades in service to his community working at all levels of Fire and EMS, Battalion Chief Cato touched the lives of thousands of patients in his time with these agencies,” the fire district said in a statement.

Spokane County Fire District 10 Deputy Chief Nick Henry offered his condolences and appreciation for Cato’s impact on the county.

“Deputy Chief Cato will be missed by all who knew him and by those who worked with him. He was a great man who loved serving others and his communities, which is evident through his years of service in the Fire Industry,” Cato said.
