Painless screening available for silent killer [Video]

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Heart disease is known as a silent killer, but it doesn’t have to be thanks to a newer and painless test.

Cardiologist Dr. Kaustubh Dabhadkar on Novant Health says that when talking about heart disease, doctors are usually talking about plaque buildup in the heart.

The most common test these days is a kind of CT scan that looks for plaque or calcified plaque. There are no needles and the test is painless.

Dr. Dabhadkar recommended patients over 40 get the test done, along with those who have diabetes, high blood pressure, or a history of heart disease.
