Omaha voters want politicians to address child-care issues [Video]

A new poll conducted for a national advocacy group suggests that Omaha-area voters care about helping parents afford high-quality child care.

The poll was released Tuesday from First Five Action, a national child care advocacy organization. It indicated that a majority of voters, regardless of their preference in the presidential race, want candidates to have specific policies to help working parents with child care challenges.

The survey was based on telephone interviews June 6-9 with 602 likely voters in Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District. It was conducted in early June by a bipartisan research team involving New Bridge Strategies and Hart Research, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.

Overall, about 86% of those surveyed said they wanted their candidate to outline policies aimed making high-quality child care more affordable. That included 72% of voters who said they were planning to vote for Republican Donald Trump and 96% of those …
