Nonprofit provides rides, services to Arizona seniors in need [Video]

CAREFREE, AZ (AZFamily) — For seniors, everyday tasks such as heading out to grab a meal or driving to a doctor’s appointment can be difficult without reliable transportation. However, one Valley nonprofit is dedicated to helping older adults in need.

The Foothills Caring Corps is a local organization based in Carefree. The nonprofit recently received a generous donation from the Kiwanis Club of Carefree to support its popular van program, which provides essential transportation services to aging and homebound neighbors in Carefree, Cave Creek and surrounding communities.

The agency’s fleet includes nine vans, six of which are wheelchair accessible. These vans provide transportation for group activities, meal deliveries, social gatherings and doctor’s appointments, ensuring seniors stay connected and engaged.

Last year, the nonprofit helped roughly 28,000 people through over 3,000 recreational van trips and almost 3,000 non-emergency medical trips.
