New Orleans Saints not paying its portion of Superdome renovation [Video]

Saints and Pelicans President Dennis Lauscha held a Q&A Friday to discuss payments on the stadium renovations. The New Orleans Saints acknowledged they withheld payments due to ongoing negotiation on a long-term lease between the team and the state. The team says they told ASM and LSED on multiple occasions it would be withholding payments until it was able to get documentation about extending the leasing agreement at the Superdome.In the statement, leaders say they assumed the negotiation could easily be accomplished but say they received almost no communication. In the Q&A, the Saints said they had communicated with the NFL about the potential impact on the big game and while league officials are concerned, they agree the necessity could conclude in a long-term agreement or even make progress towards one before more funding is provided.The New Orleans Saints say they’ve contributed $150 million so far for renovation costs.
