GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Tuesday marked National Health Care Decisions Day. Local health experts are emphasizing the importance of discussing your health care goals.
Becky Reichelt, who is the executive vice president at St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna says planning is critical.
She says this day is a reminder to everyone of all ages to begin or to continue conversations about their wishes for care through the end of their life.
According to UW-Health, more than 5,000 people have benefited from expanded advance care planning services in the past two years.
“As we’ve been saying, sometimes people indicate those decisions can wait longer or you have to be older to make those decisions. But if you’re prepared, and you have the opportunity to have those conversation with the people you love, in advance of a critical medical condition or aging process, it really benefits your family as well,” …
