Nashville Sounds sign 11-year-old recovering cancer patient to a year-long contract [Video]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Nashville Sounds have signed 11-year-old Lane Caldwell to a season-long contract.

Caldwell was diagnosed with medulloblastoma in October 2022. He had surgery before receiving radiation at St. Jude and chemotherapy at Vanderbilt. After a long year and a half, Caldwell and his family look forward to having fun at First Horizon Park with the team.

“He has had to go through so much and he’s already talking about all of the friends that he wants to bring out this summer,” Caldwell’s mother, Gina, said.

Lane will spend time with the team on gamedays and hang around with the players and coaches in the clubhouse.

“Meeting all of the players is going to be super cool,” Caldwell said. “I’m super excited.”

Every three months, Lane receives scans at Vanderbilt. His latest have shown no signs of cancer.
