Shyreece is looking back on her 10-year journey with stage 4 lung cancer. She was diagnosed in 2014 when she felt heaviness in her breathing and shortness of breath.

In the last 10 years, Shyreece did biomarker testing and learned she has the ALK mutation. The ALK mutation is a genetic alternation of the lung cells’ DNA that causes these cells to grow abnormally and ultimately behave as cancer cells. It occurs in 1 out of 25 non-small-cell lung cancer patients.

Shyreece now does a lot of advocacy work surrounding biomarker testing. In this cancer vlog, she talks about the importance of biomarker testing and the opportunity surrounding do clinical trials.
