Missouri student finds inspiration during cancer fight | Mid-Missouri News [Video]

Kiley Lemasters has been interested in business for a long time. She started a business in high school, and she is now a business student at Moberly Area Community College in Columbia with a dream to run a coffee bus.

Lemasters also has glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, but she has outlived her initially dim prognosis and finished her first semester of college.

In her junior year of high school, Lemasters’ dad was diagnosed with glioblastoma. In the summer of 2020, Lemasters was diagnosed herself.

“I eventually saw him die in November, and I’m like, ‘I don’t want my future to be like his,’” Lemasters said. “A week after my dad died, they told me I would have three months left to live based on the brain scan.”

Lemasters said she drew up a will and picked out her casket so that her mom wouldn’t have to.
