Mississippi Blood Services experiencing critical shortage [Video]

FLOWOOD, Miss. (WLBT) – Kasey Dickson, the director of marketing and public relations, says they need as many donors as they can to roll up their sleeves and donate blood.

“Right now, the shortage is very critical. It’s across the entire county and everybody is low,” she said. “We need to have the supply on our shelves. That way we can supply hospitals in our area for trauma victims, cancer patients, and any other situations that require blood. Without having the blood on our shelves, we are unable to meet those demands.”

Some of the shelves are completely empty at the facility. Dickson says their inventory is extremely low on O-positive, O-negative, and other blood types.

It’s a shortage Dickson says they and other facilities have experienced for months.
