CLEVELAND, Ohio – An Independence man accused of stabbing a caregiver in the neck at medical clinic in Maple Heights was charged Friday with attempted murder.
Jason Halasz, 24, also faces a charge of felonious assault in Garfield Heights Municipal Court. His case is expected to be bound over to a Cuyahoga County grand jury in the next few weeks.
Halasz was a patient at Signature Health, a medical clinic located at 21100 Southgate Park Blvd.
On Wednesday, Halasz and a caregiver were inside of a closed room. Authorities say Halasz stabbed the caregiver in the neck and chased him down the hallway at the clinic. A clinic employee threw a chair at him to stop the attack, authorities said.
A security guard subdued Halasz until police arrived and arrested him.
The 49-year-old victim remains in critical but stable condition, police said.
Halasz is scheduled back in court on May 7.
