Louisiana in top states with highest rate of depression, anxiety symptoms [Video]

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A recent study revealed that Louisiana was in the top 10 states that are experiencing high amounts of depression symptoms.

The Dawn Rehab Thailand, a behavioral health center, looked at data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to find which states have the highest rates of depression and anxiety.

Louisiana was placed in the third spot with 17.8% of its population experiencing symptoms of depression. The state was found to have the 12th highest rate of anxiety at 19.8%, according to the study.

The study found that Oklahoma was the highest with 20% of its population experiencing depression symptoms. It also had the second-highest percentage of symptoms of anxiety at 22.8%.

“Those aged 18-29 are reported to have the highest percentage of symptoms of depression (24.1%), while those aged 70-79 reported to have the lowest rates (5.7%),” the health center said.
