WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – With temperatures on the rise and the beginning of summer right around the corner, many are spending more time outdoors.
Dr. Kyle McCool, a radiation oncologist with Novant Health, spoke with WECT about the steps you can take to protect yourself from harmful UV rays and how to identify some skin cancer signs.
“Most commonly we would recommend covering up, wearing long-sleeve shirts and pants,” Dr. McCool said. “If you have exposed areas on your body, be sure to apply sunscreen. You could also add on a wide brim hat and some sunglasses to give you some extra protection.”
And while most only break out the sunscreen during the summer months, Dr. McCool explains why protecting your skin is important to remember year round.
