Lexington KY leaders urging to schedule a mammogram on Mother’s Day [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — First Lady Britainy Beshear and Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman are encouraging Kentuckians to schedule a mammogram this Mother’s Day.

It’s a topic that hits close to home for Coleman, who underwent a double mastectomy earlier this year.

Health leaders are working with Coleman and Beshear to make sure women celebrate Mother’s Day with a mammogram, a gift that can save their lives. The Kentucky Cancer Program is one resource that can help.

While Mother’s Day is celebrated worldwide with flowers and cards, local leaders are urging Kentuckians to celebrate with a different type of gift.

“This Mother’s Day, celebrate with a mammogram. It’s a gift that could save your life. Do it for those you love,” said Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman in a Facebook video.
