Legendary West Branch Coach Butch Pedersens legacy lives on with a scholarship and statue [Video]

TIFFIN, Iowa (KCRG) – Legendary West Branch football coach Butch Pedersen lost his battle with blood cancer on April 23rd of 2023, but his memory lives on.

Lance Pedersen, his son, helps carry his legacy.

“Every time I see his picture and think of the great times that we had, the discipline he has instilled in me as a coach and as a person and as a father,” Lance said.

There’s not a day that goes by that Lance doesn’t think of his dad, who spent his live giving back as a high school football coach for 40 years at West Branch high school.

“Hearing all the memories that people tell, and the impact that dad made on a lot of people that we didn’t know about,” Lance said. “Those things keep his memory alive, and makes you very proud, and it gets you through some of the hard times over the last year.”
