Kym Marsh has opened up about the reason why she put a five pound note in her dad’s coffin after she found it in her car.

The former Coronation Street star reflected on a ‘running joke’ that she had with her dad David, who died earlier this year after a ‘long battle with prostate cancer’.

David would often appear on BBC One’s Morning Live with Kym, who presents the show, to discuss living with prostate cancer.

When on the set of the morning programme, David would often joke with presenter Gethin Jones about how he would ask Kym to lend him a fiver.

‘Every time Dad came on Morning Live, he would say to Gethin, “She’s still not given me that fiver”, said the Michelle Connor actress. ‘It was a constant running joke.
