Knicely Done: A bedroom transformation for Emily [Video]

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Emily Austin has been in an 18-month battle with cancer.  Recently the 16-year-old received a wonderful surprise that was spearheaded by a determined couple from Omaha and a host of volunteers.

Ronnie Thomas and his wife Amy head up an outreach in Omaha called Special Spaces.  It’s a national program designed to give a heart-felt boost to young cancer patients with a total transformation of their bedroom.

“Anything we can do is to help better their lives,” said Ronnie.  “Whether it’s for one week or one month, one year or for the rest of their life, we want to give them that moment of peace inside of their room where they can enjoy it to get away from the chaos of their cancer.”

In Emily’s case, she said goodbye to her bedroom early on a Saturday morning and missed the flurry of activity that followed.
