Kids battling cancer get Tides tour [Video]

NORFOLK, Va. — Two children battling cancer got to share a special experience at the Norfolk Tides game on Wednesday.

Eight-year-old Maya Carmine and 17-year-old Colton Hart Raft got a behind-the-scenes tour organized by the Casey Carri Foundation. 

“Today was good. I got to meet the umpires and meeting the umpires were fun,” Maya said.

Maya and Colton met and became friends in the clinic at CHKD. They were both receiving chemotherapy.

“Seeing my friend Maya from Chemo, it’s just a great time overall,” Colton said. ” I had an awesome day. It was the best day ever.”

Both families enjoyed the experience and expressed gratitude.

“Making them smile was the best part,” one mom said. “We’re very grateful for this opportunity, not only for the children to be able to meet the umpires but to have these amazing seats …
