Kewaunee County offers free skin cancer screenings [Video]

LUXEMBURG, Wis. (WBAY) – Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with about 6 million people in the U.S. treated for some form of skin cancer every year.

That’s why Kewaunee County Public Health is hosting a free skin cancer screening at the Prevea Clinic in Luxemburg, 101 School Creek Trail, on Saturday, April 13.

It’s an effort to get more people to get skin exams and catch anything suspicious.

This is the time of year you might be dreaming of summer and golden sunshine, but the sun’s rays can be harmful, especially on unprotected skin, even over the cold weather months.

The skin cancer screenings will also promote sun safety and education about how to avoid sunburns which put you at a higher risk for developing melanoma, the deadliest of all skin cancers.
