Jimmy Carter has exceeded the nation’s expectations as he approaches 15 months in hospice care — and according to his grandson Jason Carter, the former president remains calm as he confronts the end of his life.
On Tuesday, May 14, Jason spoke about his grandparents during an annual mental health forum named after Rosalynn Carter, who died in November at the age of 96.
“My grandmother’s passing was a difficult moment for all of us, including my grandfather,” Jason said, adding, “The outpouring of love and support that we, as a family, received from people in this room and from the rest of the world was so remarkable and meaningful to us, and it really turned that whole process into a celebration.”
