Inspiring mom bikes 1000 miles to raise awareness of neuroendocrine tumors [Video]

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A local mother was inspired to raise awareness and funds for families battling a rare cancer known as neuroendocrine tumors [NET] after her 21-year-old daughter passed away from the illness in March 2017.

“My journey starting today from Cincinnati is to bike all eight historic canals in the U.S. and to end at the capital steps at Washington D.C. on July 9,” said Gil Schaenzles, who is biking on behalf of her daughter, Anna Rose.

At 67 years old, biking weekly is an achievement in itself, but Schaenzles plans to cycle over 1,000 miles in 32 days.

Schaenzles is an active woman who, in 2018, traveled 42,000 miles between walking and running in 51 national parks.
