OJ Simpson, the ex-NFL star who was accused and ultimately acquitted of killing his ex-wife and her friend in 1994, has died at 76 years old.

His family released a statement that said: ‘On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace.’ 

In 2023, Simpson posted a video on X sharing that he had ‘caught cancer.’ He said: ‘It looks like I beat it.’

While Simpson didn’t specify the nature of the cancer at the time, reports have now revealed that he was suffering from prostate cancer. 

Simpson is best known for his notorious legal battle surrounding the deaths of  Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ronald Goldman, who were found slain in Los Angeles on June 12, 1994.
