(FOX40.COM) — A kayaker was rescued by Metro Fire’s Air Operations Division on Sunday after injuring their leg along the North Fork of the American River.
The kayaker injured themself on Saturday while camping in a remote location of the Tahoe National Forest which made it challenging for rescuers to hike into their location, according to Metro Fire.
Hot week ahead for Northern California, NWS says
Metro Fire Copter 2 was dispatched to assist in deploying a rescuer/paramedic who located the patient and was able to provide treatment and pain management before they were placed on the hoist for extraction.
The operation took less than eight minutes for the Metro Fire team and they had the patient taken to a nearby landing zone where a Truckee Fire Department ambulance was awaiting them.
