Trooping the Colour has marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign for more than 260 years.

This year will see a break from tradition with King Charles III riding next to Queen Camilla in a carriage, rather than on horseback, as he recovers from cancer treatment.

Another change to original plans is the Princess of Wales’ absence. Kate is also recovering from cancer and has apologised to the Irish Guards for missing the ceremony.

One highlight of the ceremony – and the climax – is the spectacular finish with an RAF fly-past, watched by members of the Royal Family from the Buckingham Palace.
