Our guest is Hikisha Harris, a Devout Christian Woman, Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Survivor, Motivational Speaker, Chaplain Resident, and Founder of Gilod (God is Lord Over Diseases). Hikisha shared her experience of being diagnosed with diabetes as a youth and triple-negative breast cancer at the age of 29. Her journey has presented challenges that tested her faith but never caused her to wavier. Hikisha’s faith in God has given her grace, comfort, and passion, which has led her to become a chaplain.

Mission: This platform provides a space for women and men who are breast cancer survivors and thrivers who desire to allow their mental and physical scars to speak openly about life before breast cancer, during, and now. Additionally, we are inviting caregivers to share their experience with supporting and loving their loved one(s) through this process because they have scars that must be respected and heard. Lastly, we are hearing from professionals about their journey to serving individuals with breast cancer, along with needed information to bring forth awareness.

How We Got Here: Usually, people ask us to share our stories from the moment we heard the words, “You have breast cancer.” However, we are more than just that moment. We would love to share stories of the journey before breast cancer, during, and now. We want people to understand that there was life before breast cancer. Even though breast cancer may have caused mental and physical scars, it does not define our being. Instead, our scars speak of the cultivation of the person we are and the person we are becoming.
