Heelan wins eight events at SB-L 3A state-qualifier [Video]

SERGEANT BLUFF — Sean Schaefer made it back just in time.

Despite his senior season for the Bishop Heelan High School boys’ track and field team hampered by injuries, Schaefer has been there when it’s mattered most to the Crusaders.

“The past week I haven’t really been doing anything, just some physical therapy stretches,” Schaefer said. “Those have helped a lot. Those got me healthy, and I actually ran for the first time in a while yesterday and everything felt good.”

A Drake Relays qualifier in the 100, Schaefer is going to the Class 3A state meet this season in the long jump, 4×100 relay and 800 sprint medley relay after winning all three at Thursday’s 3A-6 state-qualifying meet at Sergeant Bluff-Luton High School.
