Healthy Living with USA Health: NICU Reunion [Video]

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital has the only level III neonatal intensive care unit in the region, a 98-bed space where extremely premature infants – some as young as 22 weeks’ gestation — are born and cared for by highly skilled physicians and other providers.

The hospital, part of the University of South Alabama, typically ‘graduates’ about 1,000 babies a year from the NICU and has some of the best outcomes in the nation when it comes to quality of life of those born there. Some infants can stay in the NICU for six months or longer, which allows their families time to build close bonds with their caregivers and often, some of the other parents.
